bookreview.com

This is the website who did my first book review, and I was quite pleased with it.  Unfortunately i have just become aware of a somewhat underhand practice.

I would not call it fraud.  However this is something for author's to watch out for nonetheless.

What is the first thing an author does when they get their review?  Why of course, they copy and paste it into their websites, and give copies to others to post on websites.  Well maybe this is a breach of copyright, however I've studied the website at bookreview.com and nowhere can I find any adivice saying one should not copy their review.

At bookreview.com the bookreview looks like plain text.  However paste it into your website and that is an entirely different matter.

I found there were links in colour and underlined once the review was on my website.  The first link was the title of my book.  Did I miss this when I first put the review into my website or did the link somehow change?  Because when I click on the title of my novel it takes me to the Amazon website to another novel with the same title ie not my novel.

Several other novels were mentioned as examples during my review.  These also have links to advertise Amazon books.

ie unbeknownst to me, for the last 6 months or so, I have been advertising other people's works from my website.

Let this be a warning to other prospective authors.
